the Currarong project

Bringing a mid century inspired beach shack back to life on the South Coast.

If you’ve known me for a while, you’ll know I’ve been sneaking down to Currarong for something like twenty five years. It started when friends bought here, then weekends turned into longer stays, and before long the place felt like a second home. For years I’ve been wandering around town thinking ‘one day’. This year, Felipe and I finally made the leap.

This site is just a relaxed renovation diary for our Currarong beach house renovation project. A place for friends and family to see what we’ve been up to as we restore the charm, make mistakes and hopefully shape this Currarong shack into a home. It will also be a record of the upgrades, materials and design choices we have discovered.

Let’s see what this old shack has in store.

  • Felipe’s latest build: our custom coffee table
  • The bathroom: a fresh perspective
  • Salvaged Style: Giving Building Site Waste a Second Life in the garden
  • Red point walk
  • Morning visitors
  • the kitchen patch
  • sand & sea
  • the end of the rainbow
  • Colour and design
  • A Fresh coat (or two or three) of paint
  • Celebrating my birthday at Dolphin Reserve Currarong
